Instructions and Guidelines
Size: Cards up to 5”x7”. Folded accordion or greeting card formats OK, garlands with multiple cards OK, so long as they close to 5”x7”. Cards will be displayed hanging so both sides will be visible.
If your work turns out to be slightly three-dimensional, so that it may not make it through a mail processing machine, consider mailing it in an envelope. Be sure to check with the Post Office that you have the correct postage if your mail art is heavy or bulky. 5”x7” cards require a First Class/Forever stamp at a minimum.
Recommended media for mailing: The process of mailing gives each mail-art piece character. Still, make sure any collaged elements are glued well—things can fall off in processing (kids’ glue sticks not recommended). Likewise, soft pigments may smear. You can have your postcard hand-cancelled at the post office, which prevents it from running through a machine and also gives you a nice, red stamp.
Content restrictions: No hate speech. The Coastal Arts Guild will exclude work we deem inappropriate.
Both sides of card will be displayed: Anonymous submissions OK. Your name/address/email/website/social media info are welcome but not required. Postcards will not be returned to participants and may be used in future exhibitions.
